Wonderful brothers!

Joshua is a wonderful big brother. His baby sister Amalia was very *cranky* and mom was busy helping the other kids! He picked her up and kept on with his practice. On the topic of sewing, I made her taggie blankie a few weeks ago.

Simplicity 3515

Wow! It's been a really long time since I've posted a sewing project. These are a cute little pair of knickers made in size 14 1/2 using Simplicity 3515. They fit Riley great. She choose the little roses to go around the bottom band. This pattern was quite good.

My very first knitted anything!

This is a very cute chunky yarn sweater in size 4T. I started making it for Riley 5 years ago and finished if for Maria. At least Amalia will have a chance to wear it as well. Many thanks to my good friend Gail for all her help an inspiration.

Porttabellopixie Claire Dresses

Wow! These dresses turned out amazingly cute! I used the Portabellopixe Claire pattern and made a size 4 and a size 12 – 18 mo. This pattern was very well drafted and the instructions were great. I really like having actual photos of the steps. The dresses turned out cutter that I had imagined they would. The only little thing that gave me trouble was there were no notches for front and back they would have come in handy when attaching the sleeves to the bodice. I almost didn’t put on the sash, but am quite happy that I did. The sash is really cute in the back. I will be making this pattern again.

A picutre the the really cute sash in back.

Apple Dress

Wow it's already November! What a busy start to the school year. My latest creation is a Jumper in a Kaufman Corduroy Apple print. It was made from a jumper pattern created by Cindy Taylor Oats. This jumper went together quite quickly. The little ruffle at the waist was extremely cute.

Drafting Pants

Okay, after looking at all my pants and shorts options for my Riley I decided to start from scratch and draft a pants pattern. Coni Amaden-Crawford has a wonderful book Pattern making Made Easy. It's a cookbook like approach to pattern drafting. Riley has such a unique body type, she is 9 years old and has a very tall heavy body frame. Children's plus size patterns are quite large on her, and adult patterns have the wrong proportion. Here is a picture of the pants back. Here is a picture of the muslin. The only modification I made from the instructions was to use a 5 1/2" hip line measurement instead of the 4" for kids or the 7" for adults.

Here is a picture of the finished pants.
